I just got a job, I just got a job, nyah nyah nyah all you out-of-work suckers!
So here's how it happened: First I got 'let go' because my company died an agonizing death. But as I was leaving my boss told me about all the wonderful employment opportunities that awaited me, an out of work System Administrator.
Yeah right! So I moped around a few days, caught up on the yard work, bugged the wife to death and then decided to get my butt in gear and take care of me some business. A few days of searching the usual job sites and I was pretty discouraged. I called long lost friends, tried to tap all my connections and still things were looking pretty grim.
And then, a friend of mine called me up and told me about a certain site with a 7 day free trial and I thought 'what the hey.'
Boy was I surprised. Now I'm no stranger to searching for IT jobs online but this one was a real kicker. As soon as I saw the words career & job opportunities...well nothing happened. But after I checked the place out, signed up for the free trial and got the ball rolling three things happened.
1) People were actually posting decent jobs that I could apply for without feeling underqualified
2) Companies actually responded within days or hours instead of weeks.
3) A miracle. Ok, not really a miracle but I scored a job during my second week.
So if you are tired of rolling the dice or trudging through a career you hate I have only one thing to say:
